Broncos Finding New QB Options [Poll]

The defending Super Bowl champs, still are unsure who their starting QB will be in 2016.

The acquired Mark Sanchez this off-season from the Philadelphia Eagles. Sanchez is just 29 years old, but has had a shaky career at best spending 5 seasons with the Jets and the last two with Philadelphia.

The only QB from the Broncos Super Bowl roster is Trevor Siemian, a second-year player out of Northwestern. Trevor was third on the depth chart last season.

Reports this week from the Denver Post suggest that Houston Texans’ free agent Brian Hoyer is flying to Denver to discuss signing with the Broncos. ESPN is reporting this as a “good possibility” that he signs a deal.

Colin Kaepernick of the 49ers announced weeks ago he was unhappy with his current team and asked for a trade. John Elway and the Broncos front office met with Kaepernick, but were unable to hammer out a deal, however it’s still not completely off the table.

Another unique theory is that another Eagles quarterback could be on the move, Sam Bradford. Philadelphia just traded with the Cleveland Browns for the #2 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, hinting that they will take a quarterback at that spot. FOXSports reports that Bradford is “very mad” about that decision.

Of course another option on the table is just using a draft pick to grab a rookie quarterback. The Super Bowl champs pick last in the first round however, 31st overall.

With Jared Goff and Carson Wentz likely the first two overall picks, possibilities for Denver at #31 include: Memphis’ Paxton Lynch, Michigan State’s Connor Cook, Penn State’s Christian Hackenberg, Ohio State’s Cardale Jones, and Mississippi State’s Dak Prescott. The Broncos have reportedly shown interest in Stanford QB Kevin Hogan also, but Hogan isn’t projected to get drafted until later rounds.
