Cheyenne Man Charged After Allegedly Threatening to Kill Girlfriend

A 28-year-old Cheyenne man is facing felony charges after allegedly threatening to kill his girlfriend with a gun.

Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Officer Kevin Malatesta says officers were dispatched to shots fired in the 1400 block of Rollins Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

"When they arrived they contacted Randall Regensberg," said Malatesta. "They discovered that Regensberg was involved in an argument with his girlfriend and made several attempts to harm her."

"One of those involved putting a pillow over her head and trying to impede her breathing," added Malatesta. "The other portion of that took place when she exited the residence, went outside and apparently he fired several rounds into the air."

Malatesta says no one was hit and no property was damaged.

"According to the PC affidavit, it looks like they were in an argument about Regensberg looking at pictures on Facebook of another woman," said Malatesta. "It appears alcohol was a factor as well."

Regensberg was arrested and has been charged with aggravated assault and battery-threatens with weapon, strangulation of a household member-nose and mouth and reckless endangering-conduct. He could face up to 16 years in prison if convicted on all three counts.

Regensberg is currently being held in the Laramie County Jail on a $50,000 cash/surety bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 31 at 10 a.m.
