UPDATE:

A 36-year-old Cheyenne man was found dead last (Monday) night in what police say was a domestic violence suicide.

Officer Kevin Malatesta says police were called to a report of a potential burglary in the 3200 block of Basin Street around 7 p.m.

"A person saw somebody breaking into a house, is what it appeared to be, and then thought that they heard gunshots," said Malatesta. "We quickly learned that it was actually a domestic disturbance."

Malatesta says the SWAT team ended up searching the house along with detectives, eventually locating William Oliver's body in an RV near the house. Malatesta says it appears Oliver died from a self-inflicted gunshot.

"Fortunately, the victim of this was able to leave and was uninjured," said Malatesta.

The case remains under investigation by Cheyenne police.

Cheyenne police are investigating a domestic disturbance which resulted in a man taking his own life.

Officer Kevin Malatesta says police were called to a report of a potential burglary in the 3200 block of Basin Street around 7 p.m. yesterday (Monday).

"A person saw somebody breaking into a house, is what it appeared to be, and then thought that they heard gunshots," said Malatesta. "We quickly learned that it was actually a domestic disturbance."

Malatesta says the female victim, who'd been in a "dating relationship" with the man, was able to leave and was uninjured.

"With the nature of the call -- that there was a potentially armed person in the residence -- our SWAT team was deployed," said Malatesta. "The SWAT team ended up searching the house along with detectives, eventually locating the deceased suspect."

Malatesta says it appears the man, whose name is being withheld pending family notification, died from a self-inflicted gunshot.
