A 31-year-old Cheyenne mom accused of throwing her baby into a ditch has been slapped with two new felony charges.

Lillian Jeffrey made her initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court this (Wednesday) morning on two charges of interference with a peace officer-injury.

Charging documents allege Jeffrey punched a deputy in the face and bit a corporal's pinky finger while being booked into the Laramie County jail on Monday.

Judge Thomas Lee set Jeffrey's bond at $5,000 cash and set her preliminary hearing for June 14 at 10:30 a.m. If convicted of the charges, she could face up to 20 years in prison.

Jeffrey was arrested in December after Cheyenne police found her 2-month-old daughter lying in a rock-covered ditch at Love's Travel Stop.

The baby suffered multiple skull fractures and a collapsed lung and had to be life-flighted to Children's Hospital Colorado for treatment.

Jeffrey pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in February to a single count of aggravated child abuse.

That case is scheduled to go to trial on July 16.
