UPDATE: The District and Circuit Courts in the Laramie County Courthouse have closed, according to Laramie County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Captain Linda Gesell. She says that decision was made by the judges in those courts following a bomb threat this morning. However, county offices, such as the Laramie County Clerk’s office remain open in the same building. As of noon Friday Officer Kevin Malatesta of the Cheyenne Police Department said the investigation into the threats was ongoing but emphasized no explosive devices were found either at the courthouse or at Alta Vista elementary school, which was also threatened by a caller who claimed a bomb had been placed there.

A spokesman for the Cheyenne Police Department says someone called 911 Friday morning with a series of bomb threats against at least two different locations.

Officer Kevin Malatesta said that as of 9 a.m. threats had been made against the Laramie County Courthouse and a local elementary school, which he did not identify. Malatesta said officers had responded to those locations and hadn’t found any kind of explosives.

He said investigators are working to identify the caller. He says even if the threat turns out to be bogus, placing such a call qualifies as a ‘terroristic threat.”

That is a felony punishable by up to three years in prison under Wyoming law.
