Cheyenne Police are continuing to investigate allegations of animal cruelty at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter, according to a post on the CPD Facebook page.

The post includes the following statement:

"We have had a number of people asking the CPD about the incident at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. To those who are asking; yes, we've been investigating the case since we were made aware of it on September 7th. K9 Officer Jano assisted his human partner and together they completed an initial report which was sent on to detectives. Our detectives are continuing to investigate the case."

Animal Shelter CEO Bob Fecht, who is also the former Cheif of the Cheyenne Police Department, was recently suspended without for 60 days by the CAS board for an incident in which an 8 month-old pit bull mix named Tanner was pepper sprayed the day after biting a shelter employee.

Fecht allegedly ordered the pepper spraying of the dog as a "training exercise." Tanner was later euthanized.
