A Cheyenne woman who seriously injured another woman in a drunk driving crash has been sentenced to 10 years of supervised probation.

Carolyn Kristine Tomanek was arrested on August 9, 2016, after she hit Jillian Janeski in the intersection of Dell Range Boulevard and Converse Avenue. She blew a 0.124 after the crash.

Janeski, who had to be extracted from her car, suffered multiple injuries, including two fractured discs in her neck, a broken femur and a shattered ankle. Her injuries and inability to move also caused her to give up her pursuit of a college degree.

"I am so, so sorry for the pain that my actions have caused you," a tearful Tomanek told Janeski during her sentencing this (Thursday) morning in Laramie County District Court.

"This was no accident. This was a collision that was caused by you," Judge Catherine R. Rogers told Tomanek. "You destroyed that woman's life."

Rogers did, however, credit Tomanek for "realigning her life," saying she'd "done everything right."

Tomanek was ordered to pay $4,792.11 in restitution. If she violates any terms of her probation, she faces five to seven years in prison.
