Two teams with identical records square off when the Wyoming Cowboys face the Boise State Broncos in Idaho Saturday night at Albertsons Stadium.

There are a number of similarities between the two teams. It starts with their overall and conference records, which are 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the Mountain West.

Besides that, both are entering off big road wins last week. Wyoming had a fourth quarter comeback and beat Utah State, 28-23. Boise State knocked off previously unbeaten and then No. 18 San Diego State, 31-14.

Both defense also have some parallels. The Cowboys are No. 3 in the MW and 43rd in the country in scoring defense at 21.2 points per game. The Broncos are fourth in the MW and No. 48 nationally, as they allow 22.8 points per game. They trade spots in total defense, in terms of yards allowed. Boise State gives up 324.7 yards per game, which is No. 3 in the conference and 27th nationally. UW is fourth in the league and No. 36 in the country at 348.5 yards per game allowed.

Wyoming’s defense continues to shine in turnovers forced with 17 on the season. That mark leads the MW and is No. 3 in the nation. With only six turnovers committed, the Pokes are +11 in turnover margin, which tops the conference and third in the nation.

Junior defensive end Kevin Prosser was one of the stars in the victory last week at Utah State. KOWB’s David Settle visited with Prosser about his interception and return for a touchdown, turning into a running back with his stiff arm and looking ahead to facing Boise State.

The Cowboys are trying to accomplish something they’ve never done, win a game at Boise State. The Cowboys 30-28 thrilling victory a year ago was their first in the series. When it comes to playing on the road against the Broncos, UW is 0-5 all-time in Idaho.
