The Wyoming Cowboys forced four turnovers and have started conference play 2-0 for the first time in three years after a 35-26 win over Air Force Saturday.

Wyoming (4-2, 2-0) intercepted three passes, and D.J. May scored on a 15-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Two of the interceptions were by Antonio Hull, while Marcus Epps had the other one.

Josh Allen threw for 173 yards and three touchdown passes. A 17-yarder to Tanner Gentry, a 20-yarder to Jake Maulhardt and a 32-yarder to Jacob Hollister. He also added a career-high 74-yards rushing.

Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl knew his team had played well to earn a hard fought win.

The Cowboys built a 28-6 lead in the third quarter, but the Falcons rallied and pulled within 28-26 with 3:31 left.

Air Force (4-1, 1-1) attempted an onside kick that was recovered by Wyoming’s Lucas Wacha and returned six yards.

The Cowboys picked up a key third down and 21 yards to go with an Allen 32-yard option keeper to the Falcon’s 1-yard line. Brian Hill scored on the next play and iced the victory.

Hill ran for 92 yards, and UW had 189 as a team on the ground. Air Force came in allowing only 53 yards per game rushing.

Wyoming allowed 337 total yards to the Falcons, but held them to only 149 yards on the ground. Air Force came in averaging nearly 313 per game rushing. Wacha led the Cowboys defense with nine tackles, including a sack. Epps added seven stops, a tackle for loss and his interception.

Bohl felt his squad's effectiveness on the ground was key. He discussed the strategy of the onside kick, and how they're progressing in the right way.

The Cowboys are 2-0 in the MW and have also accumulated four wins this early in a season for the first time since 2013. Wyoming has next weekend off and will return to action Oct. 22 at Nevada. Kick-off time hasn’t been released for that game.
