When University of Wyoming standout Larry Nance, Jr. was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft, most experts were surprised. One month into his rookie season, and Nance Jr. has been turning more heads with his versatility and athletic ability.

Despite suffering a broken nose earlier this month, the UW alum is averaging over 17 minutes per game, along with over 5 pounds and 3 rebounds. Not bad for a rookie who most pundits didn't think was good enough to make the roster.

Nance, Jr. has also drawn rave reviews for his high flying slam dunks. His teammate, Lakers guard Lou Williams recently made headlines when he declared that Nance, Jr. was a better dunker than Los Angeles Clipppers star Blake Griffin.

Lately, there's even been talk that Nance, Jr. will be invited to compete in next year's NBA Slam Dunk contest. If he is selected, Nance, Jr. will make history as the only University of Wyoming alumni to compete in the contest.

He would also part of the first father-son team to ever take part in the event. His father, Larry Nance, Sr. won the competition in 1984. As for his possible invitation, Nance, Jr. recently told Lakers Nation, "I think it would be cool".

So do we.
