A man accused of possession of liquid THC and raw marijuana pleaded guilty in Albany County District Court Tuesday, May 8 in Albany County District Court.

Spencer Boyce, 23, was charged with one count of possession of liquid THC and one count of unlawful possession with intent to deliver. If convicted, he could face 5 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

According to court documents, on Sept 4, a Laramie Police officer stopped Boyce for failing to stop at a right light at the intersection of Curtis and McCue Street. While conducting the stop, the officer noticed a white Colorado dispensary container in the center console and smelled a strong odor of burnt and raw marijuana.

The officer asked Boyce if there was anything else in the vehicle and Boyce handed the officer a glass pipe, which the officer noticed had suspect marijuana residue on it. The officer then asked Boyce and his passenger to exit the vehicle and performed a pat-down search of them both as well as searching the vehicle, court documents state.

The officer searched the vehicle and found five bottles of liquid THC and 84 grams of raw marijuana in the Colorado dispensary bags. The officer also found a digital scale a receipt from the Colorado dispensary. The items on the receipt matched the items found in the dispensary bags and Boyce’s full name was on the receipt. Boyce stated that the items were his, according to the affidavit.

Prosecutor Kurt Britzius said during the arraignment that Boyce had been cooperative with law enforcement.

During the arraignment, District Judge Tori Kricken asked for Boyce to clarify that a plea agreement had been offered in which the state would drop the second count- intent to deliver- and recommend probation. Boyce confirmed that this was the case.

Judge Kricken also agreed to modify bond from $10,000 cash to a signature bond, so that Boyce could return to Idaho and stay with his mother.

Boyce will be sentenced following a pre-sentence investigation.
