UPDATE (7:30 p.m.):

Jerome "Jerry" Elmore was found dead west of Laramie on Tuesday. A cause of death has not been released.

UPDATE (2:15 p.m.):

The father of a Florida man said to be missing near Laramie has provided a physical description that may aid searchers.

Jim Elmore says the missing man -- his son, Jerry -- is about 5'8" and weighs roughly 175 pounds. Jerry, pictured below, has brown hair and brown eyes. 

Jerry left his home in Jacksonville, Fla. on Sept. 4 and was planning to return in six days or so, according to his father. Jim Elmore says he does not know where his son was going. 

Jim Elmore also says law enforcement was due to undertake a "massive" search today, but he has had no further updates. He also does not know in which woods Jerry's car was found.

A Florida man is said to be missing near Laramie.

According to a public Facebook post by Tennessee resident Jim Elmore, local authorities are looking for his son, Jerry Elmore, in the Laramie area today.

Jim Elmore says his son rented a car in Jacksonville, Fla. and drove it to Wyoming. He says authorities found the car abandoned in the woods near Laramie.

Laramie police say the Albany County Sheriff's Office is handling the search. The sheriff's office has not yet returned a phone call seeking comment; we will update this story as soon as more information is available.
