As football fans bid farewell to one of the game's greatest players, here's a look back at Peyton Manning's five best Wyoming moments.

1. Inspiring a Rock Springs Cancer Patient - When Kari Bollig was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer, she wrote a letter to her favorite player, presuming that he would never actually read it.

Not only did Manning read her letter, he flew Bollig and her husband from Rock Springs to Denver for the 2015 home opener. Manning met with the family before the game and invited them to watch the game from the sidelines.

2. Hosting a UW Quarterback - In 2012, University of Wyoming QB Brett Smith was selected to participate in the Manning Passing Academy, the yearly camp hosted by his family.

Smith had met Petyon's father Archie at the 2011 New Mexico Bowl, who invited Smith to attend the clinic.

3. Unrein TD Pass - Of his record setting 539 touchdown passes, one of Manning's most unlikely scores landed in the hands of former University of Wyoming defensive tackle Mich Unrein.

In 2012, Unrein was inserted as a fullback for a goal line play, Instead, Manning called an audible and found the 300 pound lineman in the end zone for a one yard touchdown pass.

4. Manning Speaks to Wyoming Business Leaders - Last year, the five-time Most Valuable Player was the keynote speaker for a "Leadercast Convention" that was broadcast to Casper, Gillette and Jackson.

The event also featured speeches from Pixar President Ed Catmull, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai.

5. Peyton's Alma Matter Upset By UW - Although Manning's college career ended a decade earlier, his beloved Tennessee Volunteers were the victims of Wyoming's biggest gridiron upset.

In 2008, the Pokes defeated the heavily favored Vols in Knoxville, 13-7. Adding insult to injury, it was Tennessee's homecoming game . It would be the final homecoming  for Manning's college coach Phil Fulmer, who retired after the season.
