This year's Cowboy Kickoff Concert and Pep Rally will feature two "firsts" for the University of Wyoming.

For the first time since War Memorial Stadium opened in 1950, it will host a music concert on the field. And for the first time, beer will be sold inside the stadium. Previously, beer has only been sold outside the stadium and in the Wildcatter Stadium Club and Suites.

While UW officials don't currently plan to sell beer inside War Memorial Stadium during football games, the Cowboy Kickoff Concert could be a test run for future seasons.

In recent years, several major Universities across the country have begun selling beer at sporting events. For cash-strapped athletic programs, beer sales have tapped into a lucrative new source of revenue.

Still, there are many, UW administrators included, who believe the potential risks of selling alcohol during games outweigh the financial benefits.
