Have an electric car? Need to get your shopping done? You can kill two birds with one stone by heading over to the Frontier Mall parking lot (or, you can just stay at home and plug in. Whatever floats your boat.). You'll see a row of charging stations close to Olive Garden.

While any electric car can charge here (we're not sure if it costs money at this moment, but we do know the Tesla stations accept cars other than Tesla), we know based on the bright bold red lettering that Tesla has decided to sponsor this locale.

Tesla, huh?

Where's the closest place you can even buy one here? According to the website, Park Meadows mall has the closest retail store (you may or may not know that you can only buy Teslas at retail stores. They don't have dealerships!).

Tesla's cheapest car, The Model S, begins at $70,000 but with options can top $100,000. For an electric car, it gets up to 265 miles on a single charge. Draining the battery pack and recharging it all the way takes more than four hours with the best available home charger.

Tesla has now begun installing charging stations here in the Cowboy State. Their first location was in Lusk. The Palo Alto, CA-based company plans dozens more across the middle of the continent in the months ahead to make it more feasible for the electric car to go from seashore to seashore.

New Supercharger stations also are going in across Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania to connect existing facilities on the coasts. Tesla owners use the stations free of charge as Tesla picks up the electric bill for the charging facilities.

What do you think about this? Many Cheyenne residents still prefer to drive their trucks, cars and SUVs, but neighboring Fort Collins certainly has a push for more earth-friendly electric vehicles.
