The Ghost Town of Shirley Basin [VIDEO]
The town of Shirley Basin was created in the early 1960's, when Uranium was discovered outside of town. According to ghosttowns.com, the town only had a few permanent structures such as the school house and the town store, which also served as the post office, bank, gas station, and more. Most folk lived in mobile home trailers, and Shirley Basin mostly vanished after the mine closed. It was officially closed as a town site in 1992.
Terry Lane posted this drone video of Shirley Basin, along with childhood memories of his early years growing up there, feeding baby cottontails and waiting for the school bus to take him to Medicine Bow.
