In spite of dumb tourists posing for #bisonseflies in Yellowstone, your chances of being killed by an animal in Wyoming are very slim.

According to statistics compiled by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 1999 to 2013, only 10 of the nearly 3,000 fatalities caused by animals nationwide took place here in Wyoming; the fifth lowest rate in the country.

Collisions between drivers and deer were the leading cause of animal-related deaths nationally.

Striking large mammals, such as deer, horses and cows, is the top animal-related cause of death in Montana, Colorado, Nebraska, Utah, South Dakota and Idaho.

Because Wyoming recorded fewer than 10 fatalities caused by animals, the CDC did not release the specific causes.

However, in light of a recent report which ranked Wyoming among the ten worst states for deer collisions, we can reasonably assume that deer are the most dangerous animals here in the Cowboy State.
