Which Wyoming Neighbor Made Rattiest List?

A few months ago this video of a New York City rat making off with a big ol’ slice went viral online and then the comedians of late-night went to work on it and propelled Pizza Rat to ratings success and even more views on Youtube. A star was born.

But like some stars in the human world, Pizza Rat is filthy a prone to carrying disease. Orkin pest control has released a list of the rattiest cities in The US and to minor surprise, New York is not number one as the city with the biggest infestation, that dubious distinction goes to… The Windy City.

Chicago Holds Top Spot on Rattiest Cities List

The markets are ranked by the number of rodent treatments Orkin performed in 2013.

New York

Washington, D.C.

Los Angeles

San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose

Your take away from this piece should be, as Orkin says - Fall is a prime time for rodents to actively seek food, water and shelter when temperatures drop and before the winter weather arrives. It only takes a hole the size of a quarter for a rat to squeeze inside, and a hole the size of a dime for mice. Rodents are also known to chew around holes to make them larger, after which they can slip into homes. It is not uncommon for homeowners and businesses to begin spotting rodents beginning in October.
