Willie Nelson Hangs With (Super) Troopers in Boston [WATCH]
Willie Nelson has had his fair share of run-ins with the law throughout his career, and he had yet another one on Sept. 12 ... except this time, the police officers joined him onstage and -- oh, yeah -- they weren't real cops. Rather, it was the recently reconvened Super Troopers cast that was hanging out with Nelson onstage and backstage in Boston.
Broken Lizard, the comedy ensemble behind the 2001 cult classic Super Troopers, recently started filming its crowdfunded sequel, Super Troopers 2, and it would only make sense that the pot-loving prankster police officers would be good friends with the "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die" singer. The cast's encounter with Nelson began when actor Jay Chandrasekhar, who played Arcot "Thorny" Ramathorn in and directed Super Troopers and co-wrote and will be directing its sequel, reached out to Nelson on Twitter to offer "security detail" at the country legend's show in Boston.
Just a few hours later, Chandrasekhar and three of his castmates -- in full costume, nonetheless! -- were mugging backstage with Nelson himself and even joined him onstage, also in their uniforms, during (appropriately enough) "It's All Going to Pot." Readers can press play on the video above to watch their appearance; although they don't do any singing, they do receive a loud round of cheers from the audience as Nelson concludes his song.
