Wyoming federal judges recently sentenced five defendants for crimes including drugs, firearms, interstate travel for illicit sex, and embezzlement, according to a news release from the Wyoming U.S. Attorney's office.

U.S. District Court Judge Alan Johnson sentenced Mark Anthony Avery, 53, of Buffalo Gap, Texas, for conspiracy to distribute less than 50 grams of methamphetamine. Avery received five years, 11 months and 21 days of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of probation. Johnson also ordered Avery to pay a $100 special assessment and $400 in restitution.

This case was investigated by the Cheyenne Police Department.

Johnson sentenced former Casper resident Leif Bjorn Jourgensen, 31, of Mancos, Colo., for travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct. Jourgensen was arrested in Fort Collins, Colo. He received seven years of imprisonment, to be followed by 10 years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment.

This case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Johnson also sentenced David M. Stephens, 30, of North Las Vegas, Nev., for possession with intent to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine. Stephens was arrested in Goshen County. He received five years of imprisonment, to be followed by four years of probation, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment and $500 in restitution.

This case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.

U.S. District Court Judge Scott Skavdahl sentenced  Jerry Ray Queen, 30, of Los Angeles for possession of firearm with an obliterated serial number. Queen was arrested in Lander. He received two years, seven months of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of probation. Skavdahl also ordered him to pay a $400 fine and a $100 special assessment.

This case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.

Chief U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Freudenthal sentenced Maureen Hall, 59, of Cheyenne for credit union embezzlement. Hall appeared pursuant to a summons. She received three years of probation.

Freudenthal also ordered her to pay a $100 special assessment and $5,180.63 in restitution.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
