KC Henry is Wyoming's real-life Rudy. The former Lingle-Fort Laramie High School star wasn't big enough or fast enough to play college basketball, so he signed up to be the team manager. Thanks to a slew of unexpected injuries, Henry is now a Division 1 athlete.

“I never really dreamed about playing DI, so just having that opportunity to put on a University of Wyoming jersey and be able to support and represent the University of Wyoming has been great, especially since I’m from Wyoming and I’ve always been a University of Wyoming fan, It was just a great opportunity, and I’m enjoying every minute of it,” Henry told the Casper Star-Tribune.

Henry was a Class 1A All-State basketball and football player in high school. After graduation, he enrolled at Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington and landed a job as an assistant coach for the women's basketball team. A coach at Eastern Wyoming introduced Henry to University of Wyoming Director of Player Development Rob Watsabaugh, who invited him to become a team manager.

As injuries and attrition depleted the Cowboys roster, coaches asked Henry to take one for the team and suit up as a player. So far, he's logged three minutes of playing time in two lopsided losses. Henry hasn't taken a shot yet, but if he makes one, it could be the brightest moment of an otherwise dismal season for Wyoming basketball fans.
