A wildfire has broken out in Albany County.

The fire is located in the southern Snowy Range behind Jelm Mountain, just North of the Colorado border.

Full evacuations are in place for Wold, Mountain Home and Wycolo according to Aimee Binning, Albany County Emergency Management coordinator.

Pre-evacuation status is in place for Fox Park and Foxborough. Evacuees can go to Harmony Elementary School, according to the Laramie Police Department Facebook page.

Albany County Emergency Management is coordinating the evacuation and asking people to stay out of the area. At this time they are deciding whether to close Highway 230.

Forest Service spokesman Aaron Voos said they are roughly estimating the fire to be 50 acres and said the fire is growing. He said the Forest Service, in conjunction with local and county crews, are working to evacuate people from the area, however they are not yet engaging the fire directly. They are referring to the wildfire as the Badger Fire.

Updates on the fire can be viewed at InciWeb and the Forest Service Twitter.

We will update this post as more information becomes available.
