University of Wyoming student-athletes performed strongly in the classroom which translated to high Academic Progress Rating (APR) scores.

The NCAA released its annual APR data Wednesday. All of UW’s athletics teams’ scores were above the 930 minimum four-year average benchmark. Even better was that every team was above a 945 average score.

Director of Athletics Tom Burman highlighted the University of Wyoming’s student-athletes efforts.

“Credit needs to go first to our student-athletes for their dedication to excel in the classroom. The primary goal for the young men and women on our athletic teams is to be students first and to remain focused on achieving their degrees from the University of Wyoming. The retention rates and academic success of our students is reflected in this year’s APR numbers.”

Burman went on to point out numerous other folks on campus, including their Office of Academic Support.

The men’s golf and women’s tennis teams achieved perfect scores of 1,000.

Four other squad’s recorded all-time high APR scores. They were women’s swimming and diving (991), men’s cross country (983) and men’s swimming and diving (978). Football tied its all-time APR high score from a year ago at 960.

The APR four-year averages are based on two factors: the retention rate of scholarship student-athletes and the academic eligibility of scholarship student-athletes over a four-year period. The most recent was from 2011-12 through the 2014-15 academic years.
