Garth Brooks was honored with the prestigious Artist of the Decade award at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Thursday (March 14) after being introduced by actor Chris Pratt.

Apparently Pratt not only admires the singer as a personal hero, but as one who "headlined the soundtrack to my life."

"I bought every one of his albums and I had the lyrics memorized by the very next day," Pratt raved as he prepared the audience for Brooks to accept the award. "When I met [him], I wanted to return the favor. I wanted to give him a fraction of the joy he's given me for so many years. I told him, 'Garth, you ever need a leading man to play you in a movie I can make that happen.'"

"True story, he looked me square in the eyes and he said 'Really? You know Bradley Cooper?'"

After that little joke, Pratt showed a montage of Brooks' interview and career highlights. Brooks is the highest selling solo-musician in history, outselling Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Elton John and many others. The superstar holds seven album diamond awards, selling more than 10 million records for each album, and is the only musician to hold this honor.

Following this, Brooks performed a medley of his hits, including "Callin' Baton Rouge,"  "Thunder Road," "Ask Me How I Know," and "Friends in Low Places" — at which he brought out Pratt to sing a line of the song. Pratt may be a little better at acting than singing, but the result was still fun (watch above).

As for Brooks himself, he didn't have too many words to share with the audience, keeping his speech trimmed, and giving a sweet shoutout to his family. "I had the time of my life, and in the '90s, went on to raise my kids. Anybody that's had kids, it's the time of your life," he noted.

The 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards were broadcast live on Fox at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
