Born in South Africa, Isakov's family came to America when he was seven. By 16, he was touring with a band and later moved to Colorado. In 2003, Isakov released his debut album Rust Colored Stones. He has released sixth full-length albums since, including a live album with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra in 2016.

Isakov's music has also been featured on several television shows and movies, including Californication, Girls, Forever, Rectify, The Haunting of Hill House, and Veronica Mars. When he's not touring, Isakov owns a farm near Boulder that supplies produce to several local restaurants. The December concert will be his first performance in Cheyenne.
