CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — John Mellencamp will play at Cheyenne Frontier Days for the first time this summer.

Organizers announced Monday that Mellencamp will open the rodeo's night shows on July 18 as they revealed the rest of the headliners for the concert series.

Gary Allan and Florida Georgia Line will also play, joining previously announced acts including Tim McGraw, Lady Antebellum and Kid Rock.

Concert committee chairman Larry Kehl told the Wyoming Tribune Eagle that organizers have had requests for years to bring Mellencamp to Frontier Days. He's currently touring in support of a new 19-disc box set.

Tickets go on sale Friday.
