When it comes to Christmas movies, Wyoming still loves the classics. The iconic1946 film "It's a Wonderful Life" is the most popular holiday flick in the Cowboy State, according to a new nationwide survey.

The Jimmy Stewart picture claimed the top spot in Wyoming, Illinois, and South Carolina. "A Christmas Story" led the way in 24 states, followed by "Elf", the most popular movie in 11 states, and "Home Alone", which took the title in four states.

Around the region, "Elf" is Colorado's favorite Christmas movie. In Nebraska, they love "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation". "A Christmas Story" topped the survey in South Dakota and Utah. Idaho loves "Home Alone" during the holidays. Our neighbors in Montana chose "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" as their favorite feature.

The survey also attempted to settle a long-running debate: is "Die Hard" a Christmas movie? The people of Kansas and Vermont definitely think so. The Bruce Willis action thriller took the top spot in two states.

The list of America's favorite Christmas flicks also includes "A Charlie Brown Christmas", the most popular film in New Mexico, "Miracle on 34th Street", the most popular holiday movie in Delaware, and "The Nightmare Before Christmas", which topped the survey in Tennessee.
