Sweetwater County Detention Center

A 33-year-old woman is facing several charges after allegedly leading several law-enforcement agencies on a high-speed chase on Interstate 80.

According to the Rock Springs Police Department, Officer Buller of the RSPD tried to stop a Chevrolet Impala for speeding on Saturday on Foothill Boulevard. But instead of pulling over, the driver, later identified as Heather Coffey took off at a high speed, leaving the city for the westbound lane of Interstate 80.

Because Coffey was driving both recklessly and at a high speed, the officer dropped back and followed from a safe distance.

The Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office, Wyoming Highway Patrol, and Green River Police Department all joined in to try help stop Coffey, but she allegedly refused to stop until tire spikes were deployed near mile marker 90.

Coffey was arrested for two counts of Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police Officers, Driving with a Cancelled or Revoked License, Reckless Driving, No Seat Belt and some other traffic violations.
