Whether you call it Bigfoot, Sasquatch, or Stacy; the lure of discovering the legendary creature that is said to live in the forests of North America remains high.

Wyoming's vast wilderness seems like a perfect place for a Bigfoot to make a home in. In fact, according to the Bigfoot Field Research Organization, they have received 28 reports of Bigfoots in the state.

If you don't know, a Bigfoot is said to be a large, person-sized, hairy, ape-like creature that lives in the wilderness.

The alleged Sasquatch population in Wyoming seems to be concentrated in the western part of the state. But, eagle-eyed 'squatch hunters may have some luck in many of the mountainous counties of the Cowboy State.

Here are the five Wyoming counties with the most reported Bigfoot sightings, according to the Bigfoot Field Research Organization:

  1. Park Country - Makes sense, Cody is a heck of a town, and who doesn't love Yellowstone? Even Bigfoots like geysers.
  2. Lincoln Country - With less than 15 thousand people this county on the western edge of Wyoming, Lincoln County is a great place for Sas' to call home. Plus it's so close to Idaho and all those delicious potatoes.
  3. Carbon County - Maybe Bigfoots are big fans of old prisons that are on the National Register of Historic Places? Or perhaps, they like to vacay at Seminoe Reservoir.
  4. Teton County - Do Bigfoots love to ski?
  5. Unita County - In the south-western edge of the Wyoming square, Unita Country rounds out the Sasquatch heavy area that makes up the state's western border.

If you're heading out to do some Wyoming 'squatching, make sure that in addition to the standard camping gear, you are outfitted with some Bigfoot-specific paraphernalia.

Every great adventure requires the right shirt and socks:

Don't forget somthing to read durning the long Wyoming nights in the tent.

Maybe Bigfood has a sweettooth? Gotta be ready for anything.

You'll need a Bigfoot call.

Or just start with a ready made kit.
