William Shatner’s New History Channel Show Profiles Devils Tower [VIDEO]

William Shatner has boldly gone where no man has gone before. This summer, the iconic Star Trek actor boldly went to Wyoming to explore the mysteries of Devils Tower on the new History Channel series The UnXplained.

During the episode "Unnatural Nature", Shatner and a team of experts discuss the origins of the mystical landmark.

"There are many theories about (Devils Tower), but there's no agreement on what it was that produced this miracle of nature," investigative journalist David Whitehead claims. "The native people in the area have worshipped this tower as an altar of sorts and many feel they can climb to the top of this place and get divine inspiration. Is there some truth to this native legend?"

Along with Shatner and Whitehead, the show also features commentary from a college professor, an aerospace engineer, and renowned Lakota historian Darrel Red Cloud.

"It's a sacred place. When you see it from a certain distance, even then you start to feel the wonder of it." Red Cloud said. "You feel it even more when you get to the base of the tower."

Like Shatner, America's first National Monument is commonly associated with extraterrestrials and UFOs. Portions of Steven Speilberg's 1977 film Close Encounters of the Third Kind were filmed at Devils Tower. The movie was nominated for eight Academy Awards and is widely considered among the best science fiction films ever released. Devils Tower has been a popular destination for paranormal enthusiasts for decades and now hosts the annual UFO Rendezvous.
