You might want to consider not wearing headphones the next time you hike in bear country. One woman learned this the hard way thanks to an encounter she had.

WBIR reported that a woman hiking the Appalachian Trail was knocked over by a bear. She had no idea the bear was near her because she was jamming in her headphones.

The good news is they reported that she was not injured which is incredible considering SHE WAS KNOCKED OVER BY A BEAR.

There are other things to be concerned about when you block your hearing while hiking. Trust me when I say you'd want to hear the rattle of a rattlesnake if one is near you. Oh, and there's that whole listening to nature sounds thing, too. Isn't that the point of hiking anyway?

This lady is beyond fortunate. Her surprise bear encounter could have ended much much worse.
