The Wyoming Cowgirls volleyball schedule for the upcoming 2017 season was revealed Tuesday. It features 30 total matches with 15 at home.

Six teams that played in last year’s NCAA Tournament are part of this slate. That includes Mountain West foes Colorado State, Boise State and UNLV. In addition, the Cowgirls will face Purdue, Missouri State and Washington, who qualified. The Huskies are the most notable, as they advanced all the way to the Elite Eight last season and finished with a 29-5 mark.

The 2017 season opens with a pair of non-conference tournaments at home. The Rumble in the Rockies is Aug. 25 and Aug. 26 with Portland, Abilene Christian and South Dakota visiting the UniWyo Sports Complex. USD is coming off a program record 25 wins last year.

That is followed by the UniWyo Invite (Sept. 1-2) on Labor Day weekend with Eastern Michigan, Jacksonville and Purdue coming to Laramie.

The first road matches will be Sept. 8-9 at the Pepperdine University Tournament. UW will take on the host Waves, plus Missouri State and Washington. The non-conference slate concludes at the ORU Classic in Tulsa (Sept. 15-16) with matches against Central Arkansas, Tulsa and the host Oral Roberts.

MW action starts with three straight at home. UNLV and New Mexico visit Sept. 21 and 23, which is just ahead of the first ‘Border War’ against CSU on Sept. 26.

The Cowgirls will have a pair of three-match home-stands and also play three straight on the road twice within conference action. The home finale is against San Diego State on Nov. 15. Wyoming concludes the regular season at Fresno State on Nov. 18. There are a total of 18 league matches.

UW finished 18-13 overall in 2016 and 11-7 in the MW. They return 10 letterwinners from that squad. Chad Callihan is entering his fifth season as head coach.
